Responding to increasing demand and leveraging the capacity to offer competitive pricing, GreenTECH Fuel is planning to begin importing bulk HVO100 in 2025. Working with TotalEnergies, the world’s fifth largest energy business, GreenTECH is planning to secure storage in most if not all, capital cities in Australia from late 2025.
While businesses like BP have scaled back their plans to import bulk HVO100 into Australia, particularly Western Australia, GreenTECH has identified increasing demand and, with its relationship with TotalEnergies, can now import and resell HVO100 very economically.
Free of fossil fuels, HV0100, a ‘hydrotreated vegetable oil’, is a ‘renewable diesel produced using sustainably sourced vegetable and animal matter. Its production does not negatively impact the environment. A high-quality fuel, HVO100, has a chemical structure almost identical to mineral diesel and can, therefore, replace fossil diesel without modifications to engines, infrastructure, or maintenance schedule.
HVO100 complies with the EN15940 specification and the new Australian “Fuel Quality standards (Paraffinic Diesel) Determination 2025” (Mineral diesel 820 – 850Kg/m3 HVO 765-800Kg/m3), and many engineers view it as the best and easiest paraffinic option to help immediately reduce carbon emissions. More specifically, HVO100:
Delivers superior cold start operability and storage stability.
Delivers a reduction of up to 90% in well-to-wheel CO2 emissions.
Delivers a healthy 4% - 5% reduction in tailpipe CO2 emissions.
Reduces local pollution emissions, including diesel particulates like NOx.
HVO100 is ideal for use in the mining and transport industries or wherever diesel fuel is used. It is a desirable fuel option for businesses seeking to reduce emissions, especially scope three emissions. When blended with EPC+, HVO100 can reduce emissions by as much as 8% to 10%, contributing significantly to the achievement of MCR, Safeguard, and other ESG targets. It also reduces the consumption of expensive AdBlue by up to 30%.
