Don't be fooled by top line findings on diesel additives. Ask the right questions!

When evaluating diesel additives and their capacity to reduce diesel consumption and therefore costs and emissions, it helps to ask the right questions.

In a recent trial completed with a leading national transport business delivered diesel consumption and therefore cost and emissions savings as high as 24%. GreenTECH Fuel could have promoted that result but has not. Why?  Because it is the consistently achieved average fleet saving that matters. Savings above 5% are almost certainly those for an individual vehicle – not a fleet. They are also unsustainable and therefore of little medium-term value.

The first and second questions to ask, when evaluating a diesel additive are:

1.       What was the average fleet saving?

2.       Over what period was the average saving achieved?

Data from TotalEnergies in Europe, the Americas and Africa, where EPC+ has been used since 2005, and is now sold in bulk and through 17,000 service stations, demonstrates an average fleet saving of between 2% and 5%. Not only are these average savings substantial. Trials in Australia conducted by GreenTECH Fuel have achieved consistent average fleet savings of 4% plus – which just one IBC of EPC+ saving an average of 57,000 litres of diesel.

The third and fourth questions to ask, when evaluating a diesel additive are:

3.       Where is the international research supporting savings achieved.

4.       Where is the Australia research supporting savings achieved.

Trial data from TotalEnergies demonstrates that EPC+ consistently reduces diesel consumption regardless of the type of vehicle, brand of vehicle, location and conditions. All of this research is published, and EPC+ meets all international specifications for which OEM engines are approved (EN 590, ISO 8217, etc.) and meets all performance requirements of the Worldwide Fuel Charter.

This brings us to two more questions:

5.       Does the additive meet all international standards?

6.       Is the additive made by a major energy business.

As noted EPC+, like all good brands, meets all international fuel standards. It is currently purchased by some 8,000,000 customers every day. EPC+ is the only diesel additive of this type made by a major energy business – in this case the 4th largest energy business on the planet – TotalEnergies.

The next two questions that might be asked are:

7.       What is the return on investment?

8.       Is the vendor open to a trial over 3 months to confirm results promised.

Vendors need to be able to provide, so that you can study data as follows, prepared for GreenTECH Fuel, by independent consultancy – Empire C&E.

The first of these tables demonstrated the return on investment and payback periods for EPC+ in the transport industry. The second tables demonstrated the return on investment and payback periods for EPC+ in the transport industry. Both tables provide hard evidence demonstrating the value of EPC+.

GreenTECH Fuel encourage every potential user of EPC+, or indeed any of our products to carry out a trial. The results will be the same – between 2% and 5% savings in consumption, costs and emissions, but at least you will have the confirmation that drives confidence.

Finally, it is of value to ask one more question:

9.       What else does the additive do to maximise the return.

In addition to the benefits listed above EPC+ delivers:

·         97% reduction in fuel injector fouling.

·         30% and 60% increase in fuel injector life.

·         4% and 10% reduction in AdBlue costs.

Additional saving flow from reduced injector fouling and longer injector life – with one customer suggesting that the savings on injectors alone warrant the purchase of EPC+. With the decrease in diesel emissions by 4% there is up to a 30% reduction in Adblue consumption – generating additional savings.
